Stay Sensation in the Former General Sudirman's Office

Want to feel sleep in the former office of the Great Commander General Sudirman? The sensation can now be felt when you stay at the Sudirman Suite at Grand Inna Malioboro Hotel, one of the four-star legendary hotels in Yogyakarta . Located on Jalan Malioboro 60, the hotel was built in 1908 and officially operated in 1911.

Uniquely, the hotel has experienced seven renames, ranging from Grand Hotel De Djokdja, Hotel Asahi, Hotel Merdeka, Hotel Garuda, Natour Garuda, Inna Garuda, and now Grand Inna Malioboro.

When the hotel was named Hotel Merdeka, between 1945-1950, it temporarily became the office complex for the government's cabinet in 1946. The Great Commander General Sudirman stayed at the hotel for several months, making one of the hotel rooms his office space.

Suprihatin, Executive House Keeper of Grand Inna Malioboro some time ago explained, Sudirman Suite itself has two bedrooms, living room, kitchenette and dining room. The location is located on the south side of the west this makes visitors can freely see the atmosphere Malioboro . In addition, its vast place makes you feel at home.

"It's like a house, bigger room size," said Supriharin.

Supri said that General Sudirman had his office here during the struggle against the Dutch. Although only a few months, this room has a strong history because of the character of General Sudirman. Some of the characters have stayed in this Sudirman Suite room, such as Setiawan Jody, Megawati, and even SBY.

"It's an office here, used before the president's status, ever here Megawati, then Pak SBY.If the president has never been, then out of here to become president," said Supri with a laugh.

To feel the sensation of staying at Sudirman Suite, hotel guests need to spend at least Rp 10 million per night. Although relatively expensive, this hotel room is often a place to stay for tourists, especially tourists from the Netherlands.

Sudirman Suite is often associated with a mystical story. Because, the original objects of General Sudirman relics can still be found in this room, from the chair, or even a statue. According to the story of word of mouth, there are those who claim to see the rocking chair of General Sudirman shake himself. However, now it does not happen because the goods have been given to the Museum Sudirman. "It used to be scary, but now the nuances are totally changed.

Once old wooden interior, old bed model, now is different, much different, "said Supri.

Meanwhile, Retno Kusumaningrum, PR Manager of Grand Inna Malioboro, told, in 2012 Sudirman Suite renovated with the concept of moderm, without leaving the concept of old school concept that has long been attached. According to him, Grand Inna Malioboro has two most special rooms, namely room number 291 and 281, currently named Sudirman Suite and Garuda Suite.

Why named Sudirman Suite, because that time the room is the office of MBO (Oemoem Headquarters) People's Security Army, led by Commander General Sudirman.

"If Garuda Suite is a second room after Sudirman Suite, the price is 6 million per night including breakfast for two people," said Retno.
